Our Goal: Simmons Community Solutions is committed to the economic, social, and aesthetic improvement of Louisville Metro in general, and its historically and current distressed communities in specific.

Objectives

• To provide a point of “first-entry” for non-traditional students that may be too intimidated to attend our area’s larger colleges and universities
  
  
• To participate in the solutions of workforce development for Louisville Metro, readying citizens for job opportunities in the upcoming years
  
  
• To improve the quality of life of low-income families, reducing barriers to success and productivity
  
  
• To challenge our community’s residents to take proactive effort in the improvement of health through prevention, personal maintenance, and regular physical examination
  
  
• To educate the totality of Louisville Metro on the diverse history of its residents, particularly Louisville’s African American communities
  • To educate the public, through Simmons Saturday Morning Solutions, about proactive community-related events and programming
  • To provide a forum, through SSMS, for community-level discussion and problem solving
    
    
• To physically improve the aesthetic character of the 18^th Street corridor through endorsement, in-kind space and resource sharing for meetings, and clean-up and development projects
